Monthly Archives: August 2012

Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire. William Butler Yeats.

Summer cleaning is over and school begins for students on Monday, August 20th. I am glad that summer cleaning is over, as this body does not tolerate 4 ten hour days. Takes most the weekend to recuperate, but I am glad to see the smiling faces of our beloved teachers ready to tackle the challenges ahead with their students. The group I work with are hard working dedicated professionals whose time clock does not terminate at the end of the school day. They spend many hours of their own time to ensure that their students have a quality education and for that I salute them. I wish them the best of luck despite the politicians trying to control the classroom environment without the full understanding of the diversity and economic backgrounds of the students that could negatively impact their learning.
